Tips: Tests and grading
What are the test procedures?
In self-study courses, 2 types of test are offered: certificate tests and mini-quizzes. These are available on the "Course content" page of each course. They are preceded by the icon.
The mini-quizzes consist of 5 questions relating to the module studied. Only 2 attempts are allowed.
Each certification test consists of 25 questions. You have 90 minutes to answer them. Only one attempt is allowed per certification test. You need to score at least 70% to obtain your certificate and gain access to the next level course.
If you fail this test, you will not be allowed to retake it immediately, even if you completely redo the proposed course. There is a 2-week waiting period before you can retake the test. It is therefore essential to ensure that you have sufficient knowledge of the content of the various modules. This is why, if you spread out the reading of the modules over several days in a row, we strongly advise you to reread your notes and/or refer to the modules in case of doubt.
What types of questions are asked in the tests and how are I awarded points?
True-false :
This is a simplified form of multiple choice with two options. Only one answer is accepted: "True" or "False".
1 point is awarded for correct answers, 0 for wrong answers.
Example :
Multiple choice :
This type of question lets you select one (example A) or several (example B) answers from a predefined list.
Points are awarded as follows:
- 1 point for correct answer(s),
- a variable penalty when one or more selected answers are wrong,
- 0 when all answers are wrong,
- a percentage of points proportional to the number of correct answers given (0.5 points if 2 out of 4 answers are correct).
Example A - Selecting an answer :
Example B – Selecting at least one answer :
Cloze text :
The exercise consists in filling in a text with missing words (holes) by selecting the right word from a list of proposals. This list appears when you select a "hole". Please note: the words on the list do not agree in gender and number. It's also possible that the list contains more answers than "holes". In this case, some words will not be used.
1 point is awarded for correct answers, 0 for wrong answers.
Example :
Matching :
The answer to each sub-question must be chosen from a list of predefined possibilities. Points are awarded as follows:
- 1 point for correct answer(s),
- 0 when the answer or all the answers are wrong,
- a percentage of points proportional to the number of correct answers given (0.5 points if 2 out of 4 answers are correct)
