Pest Risk Analysis (Collaboration with IPPC & CABI)

This training will start with the introduction of the role, importance and regulatory frameworks of PRA. This will be followed by a focus on Pest and Pathway prioritization for PRA, PRA Initiation and Pest Categorization using tools Crop Protection Compendium (CPC) and Horizon Scanning Tool (HST) developed by CABI. In the last 4 topics, we will proceed to demonstrate how the CABI PRA tool is used to support the assessment of the probability of introduction and spread of a pest, potential consequences and risks presented by the pest and the aspect of Risk management and communication. Finally, there will be a practical but simulated negotiation based on the PRA outcomes obtained during the training in a “deal room”.
